Saint-Tropez, the famous French Riviera resort town, is by a large margin the most expensive beach destination in France, according to a survey conducted by FranceMagazine.com.
The survey compared more than 100 beach towns in France based on the cost of lodging. Specifically, for each destination, it established the minimum rate travellers have to spend to stay in a hotel rated at least three stars during August 2026.
At an average of €565 per night, Saint-Tropez is more than 75% pricier than neighbouring Ramatuelle, which takes the second spot. The podium is completed by Monaco, the famous autonomous city-state, which was also included in the survey.
Cap Ferret is the priciest French destination not located on the famous Côte d’Azur. At an average of €286 per night, the town, often referred to as the French Hamptons, ranks as the sixth most expensive overall.
The following table shows the 20 most expensive beach destinations in France this summer, based on their average rates for the most affordable double room during August 2026. Rates were established around July 15 based on the leading hotel booking sites.
